The gps is connected in a computer via serial port.

Our Goal!

We want to always get accurate and real-time location,

Using Hyperterminal

Hyperterminal is a windows program that we can use to view the data  that is received by the computer serial port.

Here's an example of how the program is receiving data:

How a GPS WORKS?

GPS works through a network of 24 satellites orbiting the globe at 20,200 km, with synchronized paths to cover the entire surface of the Earth . When you want to determine the position, the receiver is used to automatically locate it at least three satellites in the network, which receives a signal indicating the  identification and the hour in the clock  of each one.

NMEA data example

The gps receives data in the NMEA format.
